Privacy Policy — Chatalog

Last updated: September 2026

What the extension does

Chatalog lets you bulk-export your own ChatGPT and Claude conversations (from tabs you already have open and are logged into) to Markdown, plain text, or JSON files, organize them into local folders, and search their full text. Everything runs from your browser against your own account — there is no Chatalog server or account of any kind.

Data collection

This extension does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data, browsing history, or chat content to Chatalog or any third party. It never operates on any account other than the one you are already logged into in the open ChatGPT/Claude tab.

To list and export your conversations, Chatalog calls ChatGPT's and Claude's own internal API endpoints (the same ones the chatgpt.com and claude.ai web apps use) directly from a content script running in your existing logged-in tab, using your existing session — no separate login, token, or credential is requested or stored by the extension.

Exported chats you choose to save are stored only locally on your device via Chrome's chrome.storage.local API (never storage.sync, so nothing is synced to any account or server). Exported .zip files are written to your own Downloads folder via Chrome's standard downloads API. Nothing leaves your machine.
